At Semi-Permanent09 we had the great fortune to meet Louise Bannister, a founding editor of the Australian bi-monthly magazine Frankie. It wasn't long before we discovered a mutual love of the important things in life - drinking tea, vintage goodness, sweet illustration, smart reads and suchlike. Frankie invited us to lend a little helping hand and join their design team in putting together their 2010 Frankie Magazine Media Kit. We were honoured.
The design brief we all set for the Frankie magazine media kit was a simple one – that potential advertisers finish reading the publication and say “Damn, hand me the phone, I’m booking an ad”. This publication needed to reflect the quirky, creative, cool but approachable, inspirational but accessible feel of the magazine; but also include some serious stats and sales figures. It achieves the right balance of brand credibility and banging on about benefits, without seeming sleazy in its selling.
